Water Testing Hawkes Bay has become a part of the national network of laboratories owned and operated by Analytica Laboratories. Our Hastings laboratory continues to service the Hawkes Bay region as it has done to this point, while now enjoying the benefits of being supported by a larger organisation. This helps us continue delivering the high quality of service you have grown used to from us, while increasing the scope of what we can offer through our Hawkes Bay facility.
Analytica Laboratories has around 150 staff. Its main facility is in Hamilton, with regional laboratories in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, & Dunedin. And now Hastings. Since the change of ownership, the key message has been that its ‘business as usual’. Water Testing Hawkes Bay continues to provide the range of sampling and microbiology testing services we have been providing in the past. When your samples require testing we can’t provide in our Hastings laboratory, in most cases we will be able to arrange for this to be done by our Analytica colleagues in other parts of New Zealand (just as we have been doing to this point). As part of the Analytica network, we are also able to offer you a range of other testing not previously available through a laboratory in the Hawkes Bay. You can find out more by visiting the Analytica website (www.analytica.co.nz), where you will see that we are now able to service markets like:
Some people have asked if the name of Water Testing Hawkes Bay is going to change. The short answer is, not immediately. Maintaining a strong Hawkes Bay presence is important to Analytica, and the current name supports this. It’s likely there will be some evolution in what we are called in the future, but at this stage you can expect to keep seeing Water Testing Hawkes Bay on our vehicles and buildings. Thanks for your continued support of our local Hawkes Bay samplers and laboratory. If you have any questions, please feel free to get in touch via email info@watertestinghb.nz or sales@analytica.co.nz. Local water testing and analysis laboratory, Water Testing Hawke's Bay, has recently signed up as a sponsor of the Maraetōtara Tree Trust, the organisation in charge of restoring the Maraetōtara River, valley and surrounding environment. In partnership with Hawke's Bay Regional Council, private and corporate donors, and local landowners, Maraetōtara Tree Trust's goal is to regenerate, enhance and protect a lush corridor of native plants, birds and wildlife, the full length of the Maraetōtara River, from the top of the Maraetōtara Valley to Te Awanga beach.
Maraetōtara River previously suffered degradation from livestock pollution, willow tree infestation, and a general lack of care and protection of river margins. The Trust is committed to planting indigenous trees to improve biodiversity, protect riparian areas, improve water quality, and generally enhance the landscape. The project is successfully led by the Maraetōtara Tree Trust volunteers. The propagation of seedlings, planting and ongoing aftercare of trees is funded by grants and sponsors such as Water Testing Hawke's Bay. The project is also regularly supported by volunteer community groups, schools, and farmers from the valley. ––––––––––––– "On behalf of Water Testing Hawke's Bay management and staff, we're delighted to be supporting a local organisation doing great things for our local environment." Water Testing Hawke’s Bay general manager, Cynthia Bowers. ––––––––––––– With accreditations that adhere to national and international standards, Water Testing Hawke’s Bay is one of New Zealand's leading regional water-testing and analysis laboratories. Water Testing Hawke’s Bay test and analyse most types of water including council and private drinking water supplies, surface and ground water, effluent, trade waste, swimming pools and spa pools. ––––––––––––– "It was natural that WTHB would join MTT’s family of sponsors. WTHB will regularly test the Maraetōtara River in order to develop a comprehensive water quality picture over 5 years. WTHB information, complemented by regional council data, will tell a useful river restoration story about water quality changes over time." This arrangement with HBRC means as a Wairoa resident, business or school, you can now find out what's in your water, and if it's healthy to drink and bathe in (testing includes spa and pool water). To have your water tested, simply pick up a testing kit from the Hawke’s Bay Regional Council depot in Freyberg Street in Wairoa. When you drop your water sample back it will then travel to WTHB's bacteriological water-testing and analysis laboratory in Hastings for testing. All WTHB all our water testing is compliant with new national Drinking Water Standards, which took effect from March this year. This change followed the serious contamination of Havelock North’s water supply in 2016, which caused thousands of people throughout the region to fall ill. Says our General Manager Cynthia Bowers, “This is an opportunity for Wairoa residents to have access to water testing services they can rely on with WTHB being IANZ-accredited and compliant with the latest Drinking Water Standards. Once clients are aware of what is in their water, they can seek advice on the appropriate treatment.” Test results are emailed directly to you at which point you can seek advice from plumbers or other service providers to help determine the best solution for your water going forward. This could include treatment of water tanks, spas or swimming pools, changing of pipes, or the installation of a filter. Testing kit pick-up and water sample drop-off at HBRC on Freyberg Street in Wairoa is available weekdays between 9am and 12pm. You can read more about our services and the new national Drinking Water Standards here on our website. And for more information please feel free to give us a call on 06 870 6449. Press Release In a first for the Hawke's Bay-East Coast region, a combination of people, expertise, equipment, systems and processes have resulted in Water Testing Hawke's Bay being awarded with IANZ Accreditation for water sampling and a range of chemistry tests carried out in the field while water sampling. Having held IANZ Accreditation in their lab for a number of years, the addition of sampling and testing accreditation in the field makes Water Testing Hawke's Bay one of the most qualified and competent water testing companies in the Hawke’s Bay, East Coast and Wairarapa regions. There are only a handful of laboratories in New Zealand that hold IANZ accreditation for water sampling and Water Testing Hawke’s Bay is the first laboratory in these regions to achieve accreditation of water sampling services. IANZ (International Accreditation New Zealand) is part of the Accreditation Council, an autonomous Crown entity that is globally recognised and represents independent scrutiny, assessment and recognition of technical and scientific competence. It provides the customer with complete confidence in the results they'll receive with an assurance they're being provided with the highest level of water testing services, carried out by qualified and experienced staff, using properly calibrated equipment and scientifically-validated testing methods. Water Testing Hawke’s Bay general manager, Cynthia Bowers, says the company is proud to have earned IANZ Accreditation: “It is the result of a dedicated effort by our team and it provides our clients in both the local government and private sector with a high level of confidence that they're receiving the highest level of service. We understand the importance to our stakeholders of knowing what's in their water and IANZ Accreditation gives them independent assurance of our people, equipment and processes." Water Testing Hawke's Bay will continue to undergo rigorous and regular assessment and quality control checks across all areas of their operation to ensure adherence to the high standards required by IANZ. Water Testing Hawke’s Bay is an independently owned business operating from a laboratory at Stortford Lodge in Hastings. In addition to their IANZ Accreditation, they are listed as a recognised laboratory by the Ministry of Health. This means Water Testing Hawke's Bay is a preferred provider of water testing services for analytical testing of raw or drinking water required by the Health Act 1956* and Drinking Water Standards. *It is a specification under the Health Act 1956 that any analytical testing of raw or drinking water required by the Act, or the drinking water standards, is in most situations performed by a recognised laboratory. ––––––––––––– For more info: Contact Cynthia Bowers 027 443 2999 gm@watertestinghb.nz |
